Cooking Tips

Having trouble keeping your bao bun surfaces nice and smooth after steaming?

  • Bamboo steamers are the best, why? Bamboo absorbs condensation, whereas metal/plastic steamer lids allow condensation to drip onto buns, causing bumps and ruining the shiny smooth surface of your buns.
  • No bamboo steamer? Don’t worry, try wrapping a clean tea towel under the lid to absorb all the condensation.
  • Don’t have any kind of steamer? Arrange bao buns on a microwaveable plate, cover buns with a couple of damp paper towels to prevent them drying out and microwave them for at least 1 minute or until piping hot.
