Serves 4


  • ½ cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons MTK Premium Fish Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon/lime juice or white vinegar


  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 bird’s eye chili, finely sliced

Cooking Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Add fish sauce and lemon/lime juice or vinegar to the sugar water mixture. Mix well until everything is combined.
  3. If using, add minced garlic and sliced bird’s eye chili to the sauce. Stir to incorporate.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust the volumes of ingredients according to your preference. Add more sugar for sweetness, fish sauce for saltiness, lemon/lime juice or vinegar for acidity, garlic for depth of flavour, or chili for spiciness.
  5. Let the sauce sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavours to meld together.
  6. Serve the dipping sauce in individual small bowls alongside your favourite Vietnamese dishes such as spring rolls, grilled meats, or noodle bowls.
